there's another fun version of it. kinda like Barrel of Monkeys, but instead of hooking monkeys you pick up steel paperclips using a magnet in your hand. the rules are pretty easy.

you start with a handful of paperclips counted out, like 12 or so. you toss them gently onto a flat smooth surface, like a tabletop. then there's one paperclip on the magnet. you touch that first paperclip to ONE loose one on the tabletop. if you get two or more by 'accident' depending on the house rules you're disqualified and have to pass the magnet to the next player. or some house rules reward you for picking up two or more paperclips at once. each one you can get by dangling the 'chain' of magnetized clips gets you closer to the 'goal' of getting them all picked up. each clip picked up after the first one attached directly to the magnet gets you one point. of course, if the chain breaks the next person gets a turn. but! the next person has to pick up the clips the previous person dropped AS THEY LAY on the tabletop. any clips in the previous person's chain that didn't break off are pulled off the magnet and gently tossed back onto the playing field. if everybody gets a turn but nobody picks up all the clips, the person with the most points before their chain broke wins.
